Children learn best by doing, and our primary program immerses them in hands-on experiences that build real-world skills. From tending to the garden and baking homemade treats to exploring the natural world on campus nature walks, students develop a deep connection to their environment. These meaningful activities enhance their curiosity, independence, and appreciation for the world around them.

Montessori classrooms are intentionally designed as multi-age communities, with our primary program serving children ages 3–6. Younger students learn by observing older peers, while older students reinforce their knowledge through mentorship. This structure fosters independence, collaboration, and leadership, allowing each child to progress at their own pace while benefiting from a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

Learning in the primary program is both broad and deep, allowing children to explore subjects in a way that nurtures their natural curiosity. Through hands-on work in practical life, sensorial exploration, mathematics, language, and cultural studies—including art, music, and geography—students absorb knowledge with purpose. This balance of freedom and structure cultivates focus, intrinsic motivation, and a lifelong love of learning.

Every child’s learning journey is unique. In our primary program, students choose materials and progress at their own pace within a carefully prepared environment. Guides observe each child's development and provide lessons when they are ready, ensuring that learning feels both natural and meaningful. Whether working independently or in small groups, students gain confidence, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility for their own education.

The capstone year of primary, or their kindergarten year, is an exciting opportunity for five and six-year-olds to step into a leadership role within their classroom and school community. Through the Primary Leaders Club (PLC), students develop teamwork skills, strengthen social connections, and prepare to transition to Lower Elementary. By engaging in special leadership opportunities like running the primary shop or reading to toddler classrooms, PLC students grow in confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging within the school community.
