The information provided on this page will give you all the tools you need to start the year off successfully and prepare for a great school year at Starwood. Join us for back-to-school events, connect with other parents and students, and meet with our team members.

  • Aug. 3-Aug. 7 — Teacher Inservice

    Teacher Inservice 
    Monday, Aug. 3–Friday, Aug. 7
    There will be no school for students on these days as guides and team members prepare for the school year.
  • Aug. 5-Aug. 6 — New Toddler Family Orientations

    New Toddler Family Orientations
    Wednesday, Aug. 5–Thursday, Aug. 6

    Families of toddler students new to Starwood will have a one-on-one orientation with their student's guide. The orientations will take place in person on Wednesday, August 5, or Thursday, August 6.

    New toddler families will receive the link to register for their orientation in their class placement email, which Ms. Sharon will send the week of August 3.
  • Aug. 7 @ 2 p.m. — Meet & Greet + Spirit Store + Uniform Closet

    Friday, Aug. 7

    2-2:30 p.m. Early Access for New Families  
    Families with students new to Starwood have the opportunity to meet their guide and see the classroom before the Meet & Greet officially begins. We encourage all new families to take advantage of this opportunity to create a more personal connection with your child's guide and ask any questions you may have.

    2:30–3:30 p.m. Meet & Greet Begins
    All Starwood families are encouraged to attend our Back-To-School Meet & Greet. Come and go as you please to see your child's classroom, get to know your child's guide, and drop off any school items. 

    Uniform Closet
    Starwood's back-to-school Uniform Closet will be held in Community Dining. Stop by to pick up some gently used uniform items for your child. The closet is open to all families—you do not have to donate items to participate. 

    Spirit Shop

    Starwood's Spirit Shop will also be on-site for families to explore a variety of Starwood apparel and accessories available for purchase, with all transactions conveniently charged through FACTS.
  • Aug. 10 — First Day of School

  • Aug. 14 @ 9 a.m. — New Family Coffee (RSVP)

    New Family Coffee
    Friday, Aug. 14

    9-10 a.m.
    Calling all families new to Starwood! You are invited to enjoy a cup of coffee and light refreshments as you connect with other new families in the Starwood community. During the event, you'll have the chance to join small group conversations and meet school ambassadors who are here to answer your questions and share helpful insights. 

    Please let us know if you can make it by Thursday, August 13.

  • Aug. 20 @ 6 p.m. — Primary-Middle School Parent Orientation

    Mandatory Parent Orientation
    Thursday, Aug. 20

    6-7 p.m.
    Parents/guardians of new and returning primary, elementary, and middle school students are required to attend their student's classroom orientation to:
    • Learn how to support your child during the school year.
    • Receive an overview of Starwood's curriculum.
    • Connect! Learn about upcoming events & how to get involved in the school community.
    This is a parent-only event with no admittance for students. Only one parent/guardian from each family is required to attend. Childcare will not be available for this event.
  • Aug. 27 @ 5 p.m. — Volunteer Orientation (RSVP)

    5-6 p.m.

    One of the best ways to feel connected to the Starwood Academy of Frisco community is through volunteering. Parents/guardians who are interested in volunteering this semester are required to attend the Volunteer Orientation.

  • Sep. 12 @ 10 a.m. — Back-To-School Celebration (Save the Date!)

    10-11:30 a.m.
    The entire Starwood community is invited to join us for our Back to School Celebration on Saturday, September 12. Join us for a morning of face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon artists, and fun for the whole family! More details to come.

Items for the First Day of School

  • Toddler — Items for the First Day

    • Diapers/Wipes - If a student is in diapers, please send a labeled box of diapers and wipes to be left at school.
    • Extra Clothes - Toddler students should bring a change of seasonally appropriate socks, underwear, shoes, multiple t-shirts and elastic waist shorts. These items will be kept at school.
      • If clothes are sent home for washing, please return a new change of clothes the next day. Periodically, clothes will be sent home as the child’s size changes.
    • Nap Mat - Nap mats should be 50 x 20 x 1 inches in size, roll up and have a shoulder strap. Mats are brought in on Monday and left at school throughout the week. We will send it home every Friday for washing. Please do not send pillows, sleeping bags, additional blankets, or stuffed animals for nap/rest time.
  • Primary — Items for the First Day

    • Extra Clothes - Primary students should bring one full set of clothing including underwear and socks. If your child is transitioning from a toddler classroom, we recommend multiple sets to support your child with any potential toileting accidents.
      • If clothes are sent home for washing, please return a new change of clothes the next day. Periodically, clothes will be sent home as the child’s size changes.
    • Nap Mat - Nap mats should be 50 x 20 x 1 inches in size, roll up and have a shoulder strap. Mats are brought in on Monday and left at school throughout the week. We will send it home every Friday for washing. Please do not send pillows, sleeping bags, additional blankets, or stuffed animals for nap/rest time.
    • Water Bottle - Students may bring a reusable water bottle to school. They will be able to refill these containers as needed.
  • Elementary & Middle School — Items for the First Day

    • Backpack: Backpacks should be used to transport items, such as a change of clothes, to and from school. Students will take home a folder each Thursday with information and notes.
    • Water Bottle: Students may bring a reusable water bottle to school. They will be able to refill these containers as needed.

Please note: Parent Conferences in October and February will be held over two days this year.

Uniform Requirements

Uniforms must be purchased from Risse Brothers Uniforms. For further information, please visit their website at www.rissebrothers.com, visit their store location at 4452 Beltway Drive Addison, Texas 75001, or contact them at (972) 231-2903.

A school uniform is required Monday-Friday with the option for students to wear a spirit t-shirt with uniform bottoms on Fridays. Uniform requirements by program are listed below:

    • White, navy or black tech mesh polo
    • Any solid color elastic-waist bottoms that can easily be taken on/off to aid in independent toileting.
    • Solid-colored shoes (no lights or wheels)
    Outerwear:
    • Zip Up Fleece Jacket
    • V-Neck Cardigan Sweater
    • Starwood Hoodies and Sweatshirts from the Spirit Wear Store
    • Any solid-colored navy, black, gray, or white hoodies or sweatshirts that are free of logos, graphics, designs, writing, and decorative embellishments 
  • Primary Uniform Requirements

    Uniform
    • White, navy or black tech mesh polo
    • Khaki shorts or pants
    • Solid-colored shoes (no lights or wheels)
    • *Optional: Plaid button jumper with a short-sleeve or long-sleeve peter pan blouse.
    *Black modesty shorts or black leggings purchased from Risse Brothers Uniforms (or a previous uniform provider) must be worn with skirts and jumpers. 

    Outerwear:
    • Zip Up Fleece Jacket
    • V-Neck Cardigan Sweater
    • Starwood Hoodies and Sweatshirts from the Spirit Wear Store
    • Any solid-colored navy, black, gray, or white hoodies or sweatshirts that are free of logos, graphics, designs, writing, and decorative embellishments 
  • Elementary & Middle School Uniform Requirements

    Uniform
    • White, navy or black tech mesh polo
    • Khaki shorts or pants (shorts must be fingertip length)
    • Solid-colored shoes (no lights or wheels)
    • *Optional: Plaid or grey skort and skirt (skirts and skorts must be fingertip length)
    *Black modesty shorts or black leggings purchased from Risse Brothers Uniforms (or a previous uniform provider) must be worn with skirts and jumpers. 

    Outerwear
    • Zip Up Fleece Jacket
    • V-Neck Cardigan Sweater
    • Starwood Hoodies and Sweatshirts from the Spirit Wear Store
    • Any solid-colored navy, black, gray, or white hoodies or sweatshirts that are free of logos, graphics, designs, writing, and decorative embellishments 
    Athletic Wear
    Middle school students are required to wear Athletic Wear during Athletic Development; this is optional for Upper Elementary. All students who change for athletic development must meet the athletic wear requirements below.  
    • Starwood Spirit Wear Shirt (from the Spirit Wear Store or Risse Brothers Uniforms)
    • Starwood Spirit Wear Shorts (purchased from Risse Brothers Uniforms)
Uniform Closet | Friday, August 7, 2–3:30 p.m. (During Meet and Greet): Families are invited to stop by Community Dining during Meet and Greet to pick up gently used uniform and spirit wear items. All families are welcome to participate, regardless of whether they donate items.

Spirit Wear Pop-Up

During the school year, we host a Spirit Wear Pop-Up store on the first Friday of each month. Our first Spirit Wear Pop-Up will be during the Meet & Greet event on Friday, August 7. Explore a variety of Starwood apparel and accessories available for purchase, with all transactions conveniently charged through FACTS.
